Tom Cannavan January - 2011
Tom Cannavan
From a vineyard strewn with large boulders, which Alain has found down to 15 metres of depth. Again 100% Tannat, from a parcel planted in 1990 in this windy, special soil. Meaty nose, the aromas are all about that umami depth, then teasingly a little more ripe black fruit comes through, and in the background the charry oak too. It unfolds aromatically this wine. The palate has fabulous sweetness and freshness too, with that weight and profound depth balanced by good acidity and a certain crispness to the tannins.

In 1979, prompted by a desire for independence vis-à-vis the family estate (Castle Bouscassé), Alain Bru bought MONTUS Castle. He immediately renewed the vineyard, without any concessions to quality: (low productive rootstocks, selected plants, plots the best exposure, tying enhanced ...). In 1982, Alain Bru winemaker for the first time on plantations less than 3 years. This wine defies chronic and needed a leader. He won several competitions. In 1985, Alain Bru develops Montus Prestige, Madiran the first composed of 100% Tannat and entirely aged in new oak barrels. A revolution for the time and make a lasting minds. "The second revolution occurred with Montus White likes to say that Alain Bru bets on Small Courbu and demonstrates the potential of this grape disregarded the name of Vic Pacherenc Bilh, with natural acidity, aroma Floral and mineral.
