Millésime 1995

The 1995 vintage is the vintage of contrasts between regions as well as between appellations. In terms of climate, the regions are equal. The year produces beautiful wines in most vineyards, often for laying down.

Bordeaux :

The harvest is early, abundant and exceptional in Bordeaux. The rainfall is sufficiently discontinuous to have no consequences. This vintage is homogeneous both in the health and composition of the grapes. Wines from clay-limestone terroirs were entitled to a bonus in this great year. Colorful, aromatic and silky, the Merlots are remarkable in particular for their concentration of phenolic compounds. These conditions explain the successes obtained in Pomerol. However, the wines of the Médoc and Graves are fully revealed today. Concentrated, aromatic, with both a good acidity-alcohol balance but also powerful and ripe tannins. They still have great ageing potential. In white, the Pessac-Léognan are always appreciated. The late season favors sweet wines for which 1995 is a very good year.

Burgundy:

The 1995 vintage is comparable to the great vintages with the late and long-standing awakening. The yields are limited and the good added maturity favors a harvest rich in degrees of coloring matter and acidity. Red wines are full of color and supported by round tannins. They still have good aging potential. It is the Côte de Nuits that dominates this year but those of the Côte de Beaune are also of good quality although they are less ripe. The white wines have kept their promises, well concentrated. Balanced, they have revealed a quality acid structure and a great aromatic expression. They have still not reached their peak and can still be tasted for many years.

Champagne :

A successful year in Champagne, even if the harvests are mixed due to the weather. The vintage produces some beautiful vintage wines. The whites of whites and the blends marked by Chardonnay have produced some very good wines. With nuances of candied fruit, even jammy fruit, the wines are evolving quickly and interestingly.

Rhone Valley :

More sun and less heavy rain than the last four years. From North to South, the wines are fruity, expressive, tannic and interesting: Cornas and Côte Rôtie stand out. The white wines leave a pleasant memory of deep colours and aromas of white fruits. The red wines are beautifully presented and today reveal their structure and significant chewiness. They retain good potential for evolution thanks to their density, richness and complexity.
