Jean-Louis Chave, one of the biggest producers in the Rhône

The Chave family settled several centuries ago in the Rhône region. Jean-Louis Chave now runs this legendary family estate on the Hermitage hill…

Through the wines, the estate expresses the best of its terroirs in an authentic way, without plot selection or “high-end” cuvée. However, one exception remains: the Cathelin cuvée.

THe cuvée Cathelin, a legendary wine

The rarity of this cuvée is explained by its low production of only 2000 bottles. Cuvée Cathelin is produced only in great vintages such as 1990, 1995, 2000, 2003 or even the 2015 vintage.

Often very closed in its youth, the many years of dormancy in the cellar allow the wine to reveal its full potential, its aromas. A fully ripe nectar after spending nearly half a century in the cellar for the greatest vintages.

Velvety tannins, aromatic charm, silky, spicy so much characteristic to describe this iconic wine that makes lovers of great Rhône wines dream.

Rated 100/100 by Jeff Leeve

“Mind blowing juice! I’ve had this wine a few times, and was never really impressed, in part, because of the oak treatment. Obviously, the secret was not waiting 27 years because I could not believe how great this was! Truffle, wet forest floor, black cherries, earth, spice, pepper and herbs only gets the party started! There is an insane opulent texture, tremendous concentration and a finish that does not quit. Voluptuous in nature, yet, pure, sexy and regal, this stunner is off the charts.”
