Château Rayas

Family history

The Château Rayas estate is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has belonged to the Reynaud family since 1880. Four generations of winegrowers have succeeded one another, each bringing their own expertise. The estate has only about ten hectares of vines, which explains the limited and highly sought-after production of Château Rayas. Today, Emmanuel Reynaud runs the estate and continues the family tradition.

Château Rayas

Unique terroir

The terroir of Château Rayas is unique. The vines are on sandy soils from sea deposits. This sand gives the wines a particular finesse and elegance. The estate benefits from a specific microclimate, with warm days and cool nights favoring the slow maturation of the grapes.

Exceptional wines

The grape variety of Château Rayas is Grenache. It produces red wines of great aromatic complexity with notes of ripe red fruits, spices and garrigue. The wines are renowned for their ability to age for many years.

Peculiarities and myths

The price is high due to a very limited annual production. In addition, the high demand also increases the price. It is one of the most prestigious wines in the world and is the subject of a real cult among lovers of great wines.

Food and wine pairings

Favor grilled meats such as lamb, prime rib, game, stew or beef bourguignon. As for cheeses, favor refined cheeses such as comté, beaufort or tomme de Savoie. Finally, favor poultry stocks such as veal blanquette or coq au vin.

Avoid dishes that are too fatty or too salty. Favor long and gentle cooking. Accompany the wine with seasonal vegetables.
