Where is the Richebourg appellation located? The Richebourg appellation is located in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy, more precisely in the well-known village of Vosne-Romanée. Of the six grands crus in this village, Richebourg is the furthest north, with an area of only 8 ha. ©️Marcella Brunetti / shutterstock.com Is Richebourg a Burgundy Grand Cru? The Richebourg appellation is a Burgundy Grand Cru. Situated just upstream from Romanée Saint Vivant, the Richebourg appellation sits alongside the highly prized Romanée Conti. They share the same terroir. And don’t forget the Cros Parantoux premier cru vineyard, so renowned for the quality of its wines, which lies just above Richebourg. This appellation is one of Burgundy’s finest. ©️ Vins de Bourgogne Who are Richebourg’s biggest producers? Today, the largest producers in Richebourg are Domaine de la Romanée Conti, which owns almost half of the land, Domaine Leroy, Domaines Anne Gros, Domaine Gros Frères & Sœurs, as well as the renowned Liger-Belair estate. See all Richebourg wines What are the characteristics of the Richebourgs? With their powerful structure, Richebourgs are characterized by deep-colored wines, with intense aromas of red and black fruits, spices and earthy notes. On the palate, they are rich and full-bodied, with silky tannins and very often a long and persistent finish. Richebourgs pair well with strong meats and game, whether furred or feathered, in sauces or simply grilled. Peking duck and roast veal also pair very well, and bring out the tight and elegant tannins of Pinot Noirs. The Richebourgs are recognized for their exceptional guard.
