Located in Épernay, Maison Perrier-Jouët represents the ideal marriage of art, nature, and Champagne craftsmanship. Known for its distinct floral style, the house has nurtured a singular legacy in the world of champagne, ensuring that every cuvée celebrates the French art of living.

The History of Maison Perrier-Jouët

Founded in 1815 by Nicolas Marie Perrier, a cork maker from Épernay, and his wife Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, the Perrier-Jouët house quickly established its vineyards around Cramant and Avize.

Their son, Charles Jouët, who was also the mayor of Épernay, made Champagne history by launching the first Brut Champagne in 1846, as well as the first vintage Champagne cuvées. Thanks to his dynamism, Perrier-Jouët Champagnes achieved dazzling international success, particularly in the Anglo-Saxon world (Great Britain and the United States). This renown led them to become the official supplier to Queen Victoria in 1861.

Perrier-Jouët Champagnes became an emblem of the Roaring Twenties, symbolizing elegance and festivity. Yet, the famous Belle Époque cuvée wouldn’t be launched until 1969, well after the house was acquired by GH Mumm ten years earlier. Since then, Perrier-Jouët has undergone several changes in ownership, passing through the hands of Allied-Domecq before being acquired by the Pernod-Ricard group in 2005, the world’s second-largest wine and spirits company.

The Belle Epoque Icon, an Exceptional Cuvée

In 1902, Octave Gallice, the grandson of Perrier-Jouët’s founders, commissioned Émile Gallé to design a bottle adorned with Japanese anemones. This floral motif became the Maison’s emblem. This artistic collaboration marked the birth of the Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque cuvée, a Champagne that has symbolized the intrinsic elegance and refinement of the house ever since its launch.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque is a rare and elegant champagne, embodying the excellence of the House’s expertise and its vineyard.

A commitment to sustainable viticulture

To preserve its terroir, Maison Perrier-Jouët is adopting regenerative viticulture, a holistic approach aimed at regenerating soils, increasing their fertility, making vines more resilient to climate change, enriching biodiversity, and limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Perrier-Jouët is implementing this method across ten hectares of its vineyard, representing 41% of its total surface area, and is sharing these innovative practices with its partner winegrowers.

Art and Gastronomy at the Heart of Perrier-Jouët’s Identity

True to its Art Nouveau heritage, Perrier-Jouët cultivates a close relationship with the most creative artists and chefs of their generation. Each year, the Maison invites contemporary creators to reinterpret its floral and poetic universe, giving rise to artworks, limited-edition bottles, or immersive installations. On the gastronomy side, it collaborates with Michelin-starred chefs to imagine exceptional food and Champagne pairings, where the finesse of Chardonnay marries audacious and refined cuisines. These sensory experiences, often offered at the Maison Belle Époque or during exclusive events, make Perrier-Jouët far more than just a Champagne: it’s a true art of living.

An Artistic Collaboration:

The Formafantasma studio has created an interactive architectural artwork and a new edition of Perrier-Jouët’s “Banquet of Nature” (a gala dinner in Champagne and at Design Miami in December 2024), while also designing exclusive limited editions for the Belle Époque cuvées.

Perrier-Jouët Champagnes

Perrier-Jouët offers a classic non-vintage Blanc de Blancs, ideal for an aperitif, characterized by its radiant freshness and citrus notes. It has a creamy, refreshing, and easy-drinking palate. In contrast, the Belle Époque 2015 cuvée displays the traits of its vintage, with an open wine and a full-bodied palate, but with vegetal and bitter notes on the finish and nose. As for the Belle Époque Rosé, it’s based on the 2014 vintage, offering a subtle profile with aromas of red berries and flowers. This rosé is elegant, nuanced, and more refined than powerful.
