Vintages The 2010 vintage by Julie Berteloot 21 March 2025 21 March 2025 607 views 607 The 2010 vintage follows the excellent 2009, it will not be easy to build a reputation after that. The regions will suffer from a very capricious climate. This passage of Xynthia during the night of February 27 to 28 affects the temperatures at the end of winter which will be very cold and which will therefore delay the start of the vines. Until May, the weather is mild but from May to August the vegetation really falls behind. The good weather does not arrive until the end of August with high temperatures and cool nights. The wines are aromatic and have a nice acidity. Bordeaux Summer and the beautiful late season allow for the harvest of healthy and ripe grapes, if the harvest was carried out at the right time. The reds do not suffer from the heat, they are very beautiful and have a long aging potential. They have fruit and power, alcohol and acidity. Some vintages are even considered better than the 2009 vintage by specialists. It is the Cabernets that stand out. The wines are ripe, fresh and have a long aging potential. Médocs wines are classics of Bordeaux and they immediately become legendary. The dry whites are very successful and seduce with their freshness and balance. The wines are very good and elegant. Bourgogne The weather is pretty good until June. But then, the storms start and bring rain and cold. Only the beginning of July is good but the bad weather returns and settles in for a long time until September when the sun comes back but it is not enough to warm the vines and the air. It was necessary to be very patient in the harvest to have nice wines. The reds have a classic structure. The whites are of beautiful quality with a good touch of acidity and minerality. Vallée du Rhône The region is not spared from bad weather, frost, snow and rain. Until August, fear remains present but then the sun returns. Sunny and dry, the summer benefits from cool nights which help the development of the vine. The grapes are healthy at harvest time. The reds are colorful, powerful and charming and the whites fine and sumptuous. Champagne The 2010 vintage is not favourable to the Champagne region. Until mid-August, the weather spares the region but then the sky darkens and the rain arrives. The sorting of the grapes is extremely careful and the vintage cuvées are of average quality. The big houses do not release vintage cuvées. 0 comments 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail You may also like… The 1929 vintage 11 April 2025 The best vintages of Château Margaux 26 March 2025 The 1982 vintage 4 March 2025 The 2000 vintage 14 February 2025 The 1935 vintage 20 January 2025 The 2009 vintage 6 January 2025 The 1947 vintage 14 December 2024 Focus on the 1967 vintage – Bordeaux 3 December 2024 The 1965 vintage 29 November 2024 The 1955 vintage 21 November 2024
