Jeannie Cho Lee, global wine expert

A complete life in the world of wine.

Jeannie Cho Lee is a Korean American wine critic. She is an author, journalist, consultant, wine professor and Master Of Wine. She is also the first Asian person to obtain Master of Wine accreditation. The expert uses Robert Parker’s scoring method. She was born in Seoul, Korea and moved to the United States at a very young age.

Since 1994, she has been based in Hong Kong where she pursues her career as a business journalist. Jeannie Cho Lee writes for Asia Inc, Far Eastern Economic Review and The Asset before contributing to international wine publications such as Wine Spectator, The World of Fine Wine and La Revue du Vin de France. She joined Decanter in 2010.

Jeannie Cho Lee is a regular judge in international wine competitions such as the International Wine Challenge, Royal Adelaide Wine Show, and Wine of the Pacific Rim.

She has also taught wine courses at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust since 2004. She contributed to the creation of the Fine Wine School in Hong Kong in 2008. The same year, she received the international award from Vinitaly and became a wine consultant to Singapore Airlines and Galaxy Macau.

His first book “Asian Palate” explores Asian food and wine pairings, it was published in 2009. He received the prize for “best food and wine pairing book in the world”. He also won the “wine, beer or spirits” category prize in 2011 and the “wine and gastronomy” category.

His second book “Mastering Wine for the Asian Palate” presents a new set of descriptions of Asian wines. Both books are available in English, Korean and Simplified Chinese.

Jeannie Cho Lee is currently a professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Recognition of his influence.

She is in the 100 most influential people in Hong Kong according to South China Morning Post and Debrett’s in 2015. She was named the 25th most powerful person in wine by Decanter magazine and is ranked among the 60 most influential people in the wine domain by the Revue du Vin de France in 2015.
