Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
Medium garnet red, lightened rim. The nose again very Rayas, deep, fragrant, spicy, floral, strawberries, redcurrants, cherries, spices, wow, very good complexity. On the palate powerful yet dancing, wonderful fruit, strawberries again, lots of spiciness, excellent structure combined with a great deal of elegance. This is already very high class and matured to perfection. Very long-lasting finish.

Medium carmine garnet, ochre reflections, watery rim. Attractive nuances of quince jelly, underlined with a pleasant honey note, delicate wild berries and herbs. On the palate ripe and round, powerful texture, sweet extract, round tannins, nuances of orange zest

Ripe, jammy cherries and raspberries, spices and herbs make up the perfume. Medium bodied with good balance, I wish the wine had a bit more depth. Still, it was nice and displayed Rayas character.

Château Rayas
Château Rayas

The Rayas Estate is located in the southern Rhône Valley, at the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Founded by Albert Reynaud and passed down through four generations, this discreet family estate spans only 10 hectares and has established itself as a major reference for great Rhône wines.

For a long time managed by Emmanuel Reynaud, who recently passed away, the estate continues to uphold his legacy and singular vision of wine. The Reynaud family is also behind Domaine des Tours and Château de Fonsalette. At Rayas, Grenache is the sole grape variety for red wines, whilst white wines are crafted from Grenache and Clairette, in a style characterised by finesse, purity and terroir expression.

Among the emblematic vintages of Rayas are notably the Rayas 1990, Rayas 2006, Rayas 2007, Rayas 2009 and Rayas 1989, essential references for Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
