Very lively and mineral – more lifted and less fat than the Fonsalette Blanc. Sweet, herbal and fine. Really exciting. Emmanuel Reynaud is very keen on 2012 for whites because the vintage has both body and freshness.

Richer and more textured, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is an even split of Grenache Blanc and Clairette. Offering up thrilling notes of citrus oil, flowers, marzipan and brioche, it stays remarkably poised and fresh on the palate, with building richness and length. It too is superb stuff that will keep for years, yet also dish out plenty of pleasure in its youth.

The Rayas Estate is located in the south of the Rhône Valley, in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Founded by Albert Reynaud and passed down through four generations, this discreet family estate spans only 10 hectares and has established itself as a major reference for great Rhône wines.
Long managed by Emmanuel Reynaud, who recently passed away, the estate today perpetuates his legacy and singular vision of wine. The Reynaud family is also behind Domaine des Tours and Château de Fonsalette. At Rayas, Grenache is the sole grape variety for red wines, while white wines are made from Grenache and Clairette, in a style marked by finesse, purity and expression of terroir.
Among Rayas' emblematic vintages are notably Rayas 1990, Rayas 2006, Rayas 2007, Rayas 2009 and Rayas 1989, essential references of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
