Adrian van Velsen - vvWine February - 2016

Medium yellow, youthful sheen. The nose is intense, almost slightly pungent at first, but also fascinating, with aromas of petrol and wet stone, then also spicy components, very complex and constantly changing. On the palate soft in the attack, powerful and with juicy fruit, significantly more balanced than the first nose suggests, there is quite a bit of structure at play, the alcohol is very well integrated, wonderful complexity and here too an almost never-ending finish. Magnificent balance, has reserves for many years.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The stunning 2006 Rayas Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc possesses aromas of acacia flowers, honeysuckle, melon, quince, and orange marmalade. Amazingly, this brilliant example of white Châteauneuf du Pape should last for 10-20 years.

A mature style, but hanging on very nicely, with buttered brioche, ginger, creamed peach and dried persimmon notes that hang on through the creamy, rounded finish. Good latent acidity holds it all together, with deceptive length.

Château Rayas
Château Rayas

The Rayas Estate is located in the south of the Rhône Valley, in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Founded by Albert Reynaud and passed down through four generations, this discreet family estate spans only 10 hectares and has established itself as a major reference for great Rhône wines.

Long managed by Emmanuel Reynaud, who recently passed away, the estate today perpetuates his legacy and singular vision of wine. The Reynaud family is also behind Domaine des Tours and Château de Fonsalette. At Rayas, Grenache is the sole grape variety for red wines, while white wines are made from Grenache and Clairette, in a style marked by finesse, purity and expression of terroir.

Among Rayas' emblematic vintages are notably Rayas 1990, Rayas 2006, Rayas 2007, Rayas 2009 and Rayas 1989, essential references of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
