Really fruit forward nose. Brambles and blackberries on the nose; still some noticeable fruit/sweetness. Hint of jamminess? Not much of that classic cote-rotie 'meatiness'. On the palate, noticeably high acidity; pretty austere. No jamminess to speak of. At nearly 20 years old the fruit isn't exactly exuberant, but it doesn't seem to have yet been replaced by many lovely tertiary notes either.

Domaine Patrick Jasmin
Domaine Patrick Jasmin

The Patrick Jasmin estate, located in the commune of Ampuis with the famous Gerin and Guigal estates, produces exclusively Côte-Rôtie. On just over 5 hectares, the vineyard consists of 11 plots all in the Côte-Rôtie appellation in the Rhône Valley. The estate has existed for 5 generations, with Patrick inheriting the knowledge of his father Robert and his grandfather Georges.

Patrick Jasmin's wines are characterised by finesse and elegance. Although these are wines made to be kept for 5 to 20 years, their suppleness and wide aromatic range allow them to be drunk young. The grape varieties used for the blend are Syrah (95%) and Viognier (5%). They feature floral aromas, notes of blackberry, violet, and spice.
