Very evolved. Superb. Evolved too. It offers a bouquet where cedar, fruit, wood and pencil lead mingle. Similar. Simpler. It is a simple and very mellow wine, but without hardening in the mouth. It should be drunk quickly. It has the patina of simple and slightly worn vintages, but it has no defects and no rigidity. Should be ideal in summer.

Château Léoville Poyferré is a Bordeaux wine estate. Under the Saint Julien appellation, it is classified as a deuxième cru classé (Second Growth) in the official 1855 Médoc wine classification.

During the reign of Louis XIII, in 1638, Master Jean de Moytié, an ennobled Bordeaux bourgeois and counsellor to the Parliament of Bordeaux, owned a vineyard planted on a gravelly hill near the River. This led to the place being named "Mont-Moytié", following the custom of the time to name a place after its owner. The Mont-Moytié cru was part of these first historical crus of the Médoc, all born before the Fronde (1648-1653). The Médoc was then giving birth to its first parish crus.

This beautiful vineyard, originating from the former Léoville estate in the north of Saint-Julien, is one of the best terroirs of the appellation and certainly the richest of the second growths. The 80 hectares planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc produce a deep and rich wine.

Château Léoville Poyferré produces elegant, very fine, balanced and complex wines, with intense colour and velvety texture, which have a very good ageing potential.
