Dark red. Bordeaux. Good intensity. Vive. Pretty. Net. Average intensity. Fresh. End. Fruity. Discreet. Net. Average intensity. More liquorice. Entry into the mouth clean and supple, developing on a juicy body that does not lack a frame in this sometimes fluid vintage. Slow tannic juicy evolution with a ripe fruit taste and a rather elegant overall architecture. After this very pleasant course, the wine returns to a more lively Cabernet Sauvignon note in the finale, with depth in taste and length. Chocolate touch. Nice success. Wine of guard.

A deep garnet core with thin tawny rim. Looks quite mature for a 9-year old Cru Classe. The nose is open-knit, forward, a little muffled with notes of soy and liquorice. It lacks the complexity and breeding one would expect, ditto the palate that is expressive and forward, lacking real vigour and definitely in need of backbone. Soft tannins, a little diffuse with notes of blackberry, soy and a touch of pain grille. It is enjoyable in a facile kind of way, but not the kind of Bordeaux that reaffirms its reputation as the greatest wine region in the world.

Very deep red. Minerals/gravel on the nose. Round and supple but then a bit dry and unyielding on the palate. So pinched I wondered if the first bottle wasn’t borderline TCA? A second bottle suggests this is just very classic left bank bordeaux without an awful lot of fruit on the mid palate. Perfectly good club claret but probably not opulent enough to fly.

The Château Lascombes is a vineyard located in Margaux in Gironde. AOC Medoc, it is ranked second cru classé in Médoc wine official Classification of 1855 Bordeaux. 

The 50 hectares of vineyard Chateau Lascombes (55% Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc 5%, 35% Merlot and Petit Verdot 5%) benefit from deep gravel soils. Chateau Lascombes the field, practice every year, green harvesting, to improve the quality of wine, getting more concentration. Chateau Lascombes : Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, malolactic fermentation in barrels of Merlot. Ageing for 18 months in new oak barrels and 60%, egg white fining.
