The 1986 is the best Filhot in my memory. The light golden colour is followed by a wine with a floral, pineapple, and tropical fruit-scented bouquet, medium body, as well as lovely, elegant, and brilliantly pure, botrytised, lively flavours. Just medium sweet, this wine could be served as an aperitif wine.

Château Filhot is a Bordeaux wine estate covering 350 hectares, of which 62 hectares are vineyards, located in Sauternes in the Gironde department.

In the Sauternes AOC, it is classified as a Second Growth in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification.

On a soil of gravel, clay and sand resting on a limestone plateau, the grape variety composition of Château Filhot consists of 60% Sémillon, 36% Sauvignon and 4% Muscadelle. The vines of Château Filhot have an average age of 35 years and produce a yield of 15 to 18 hl/ha.
