expert's opinions

(1-2014) A deft touch of wood frames an intensely earthy, complex and notably ripe nose that features notes of spice, plum and black currant. There is excellent richness, size, weight and muscle to the vibrant middle weight plus flavors that exude a fine extract on the mineral-driven finish that offers extraordinarily good length. This is primary to the point of being quite backward yet it is not hard or aggressive as the balance of structural elements is impeccable and I particularly like the sense of tension, energy and backend lift that makes this already enjoyable to drink though it's nowhere near ready.

Domaine Dujac

As a producer of Burgundy wines, the Domaine Dujac is located in Morey-Saint-Denis in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. Founded in 1967 by Jacques Seysses, heir to a famous biscuit factory (Belin), he wanted to change careers and venture into viticulture.

The estate's wines began to be bottled in 1969. In 2005, the estate expanded with prestigious plots: Malconsorts, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Chambertin. Since 2008, Domaine Dujac has adopted sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture, being certified organic.

Today it covers nearly 17 hectares, the vines are on average 35 years old and the harvests are carried out by hand. The grape varieties produced are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
