Wonderful aromas of lemon meringue and pineapple, with hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, very sweet, with lively acidity. This is a live wire. Superb.

Retasted the next day after 24 hours of opening. Nose of medium intensity. Gingerbread. Candied. Very vanilla. Exotic. Lots of vanilla when swirled. Clean and soft attack, developing on a caressing, melting structure, with a fine touch. Delicious mid-palate. Lively finish with very good taste of candied fruits, toasted almonds and raisins. Beautiful length. Great wine that 24 hours of opening has improved. It will go far!

A delightful sweet wine at its optimal maturity, this Doisy-Védrines offers sweet apricot, honey and butterscotch notes with a long finish. There is a freshness and wonderful linearity to balance the wine's generous sweetness.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Tasted at the Doisy-Védrines vertical at the château, the splendid 1990 Château Doisy-Védrines has a lucid gold colour. It has a lovely Barsac nose of orange cut marmalade, quince and honey, great definition, with touches of hazelnut and linseed coming through. The palate is powerful, a little low in acidity but very pure and with great definition and harmony. There are ripe oranges, honey, apricot with a touch of quince forming the long, persistent finish that maintains freshness right to the end. This is a great Doisy-Védrines.

Magazine RVF Yet from a year of great generosity, this vintage is the least rich in sugar. Half-power style, beautiful acidity and livelier than its peers in this year. You can start drinking it.

Château Doisy Védrines

It is one of the châteaux that was created from the great historical estate of Doisy. Doisy was established in 1704, but divided into three separate wine estates in 1851, the other two being Château Doisy-Daëne and Château Doisy-Dubroca. With an area of 30 hectares (74.1 acres), of which 27 are under vine, Doisy-Védrines is the largest of the three. Védrines has belonged to the Castéja family since the 19th century, who also own several other Bordeaux estates within their large wine merchant Borie-Manoux, namely Château Batailley in Pauillac and Château Trotte Vieille in Saint-Émilion.
