Information on the vintage 1975 red Bordeaux: Unquestionably better than the three prededing vintage and certainly interesting, not to say challenging. The summer heat and the dryness, whilst helping the sugar content, thickened the skins. It resulted in wines of good fruit with high alcohol content, dark colour and high tannins. It was, still is, the latter which has caused the controversy.

(06-2011) Tasted at the chateau magnum, this 1975 has a broody, more introspective nose compared to earlier vintages with tertiary aromas, leather, cooked meats and a touch of iron rust, but it begins to open up with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a harmonious entry, good acidity with gentle but insistent grip in the mouth. Quite typical of a -75 Pomerol: masculine, a little saline with a slightly austere finish.

Croix de Gay
La Croix de Gay is situated on the high terrace of Pomerol, a few hundred meters from Petrus and The Gospel. Chantal Lebreton took over his father's Christmas Raynaud, disappeared after the harvest 97. Supported by her mother and brother, Alain Raynaud Dr. (Chateau Quinault), it continues a long family tradition inherited from the fifteenth century. Enthusiastic winemaker, she has incurred substantial breeding efforts in the vineyards. La Croix de Gay confirmed substantial progress in recent vintages, earning density.
