Gilbert & Gaillard April - 2011

Intense colour. Expressive nose exuding excellent perfumes of ripe fruit. More of the fruit on the palate which is powerful, well-structured, massive and warm. Stocky and fairly reserved across the palate. Wonderful potential.

Very tight, schisty, very attractive black fruit. Lots of damson and blueberry richness, meaty depth too. On the palate there's a charming plumpness and ripeness top the fruit. Though the tannins are big and chunky, there's an inherent sweetness and moderate balancing acidity that make this a little more approachable than some at this stage. Elegant and delicious.

Inky dense core. Tempting modern nose of roasted coffee, dark berries, cassis, plum and tobacco. The palate has good density and weight, nice dose of freshness, grainy tannin and plenty of dark fruit on the finish, nicely roasted aftertaste.

Tighter tannins, less generous than the 2009, very much in line with the character of the two vintages. Here you will find raspberries, cinnamon, cumin, smoked caramel and blackberry fruits. Delicious but not the freshness of the 2009.

Lush and plush black cherries, chocolate, plum and earthy in character, this value priced Pomerol serves up delicious plummy, silky textured wine that can be enjoyed young, or aged.

Juicy and forward, with dark raspberry and blackberry fruit, roasted wood spice and a long, black licorice-filled finish. A buried graphite edge drives the aftertaste, lending latent grip for the cellar.

Château Croix De Gay
La Croix de Gay is located on the upper terrace of Pomerol, just a few hundred metres from Pétrus and L'Evangile. Chantal Lebreton took over from her father Noël Raynaud, who passed away after the 1997 harvest. Supported by her mother and brother, Dr Alain Raynaud (Château Quinault), she continues a long family tradition dating back to the 15th century... An enthusiastic winemaker, she has undertaken significant selection efforts in the vineyards. La Croix de Gay has confirmed clear progress in recent vintages, gaining in density.
