Aromatic, with spicy oak marking the flavours. Underneath lies cherry, currant and raspberry notes, with a nod to mineral. Taut and lean, with a slightly chewy texture. Fine length.

Medium garnet colour. Cork was in great condition. Moderately aromatic. Maraschino cherry, black raspberry pie, and allspice. Soft tannins and acidity.

Jancis Robinson July - 2015

Mid ruby. Very pale rim. Edgy damson jam on the nose. A really satisfying mouthful of fruit with, for the first time, just a suggestion of oak. Masses of (slightly illicit) pleasure from this wine with some polished tannins in the background. Something a bit feral about this – quite evolved. Powder-puff sensation. Long. But not the purest.

Bouchard Père Et Fils
Bouchard Père Et Fils

The Bouchard Père et Fils estate was founded in 1731, making it one of the oldest houses in Burgundy. Facing financial difficulties, the house was sold in 1995 to Maison Champagne Henriot. Bouchard Père et Fils owns an impressive collection of properties in Côte d'Or: Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Chevalier-Montrachet, Beaune Les Grèves La Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus and Clos Vougeot.

In addition, the company owns small plots of Gevrey-Chambertin, Aloxe-Corton, Savigny Les Beaune, Pommard, Meursault and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Since the takeover by Maison Henriot, particular attention has been paid to every detail: vines, soils and vinification are monitored by the best, so much so that Bouchard Père et Fils wines have regained their venerable reputation for reliability and consistency.
