Côte Rotie
The 1999 Cote Rotie La Cote Rotie la Sarrasine is forward and evolved, revealing sweet cherry fruit dominated by oak. It is medium-bodied, with light tannin and fine depth. It will drink well for 7-8 years. A principal objection with respect to Bonserine's cuvees is their high levels of aggressive oak. They are internationally-styled, with less typicity than other examples of the appellation.
Concentrated, rich and thick, a full-bodied, full-throttled Côte-Rôtie that shows aromatic reserve, but delivers plenty of flavors--wild raspberries, Provençal herbs, wet earth and lemon--in a smooth package of ripe, sweet tannins. An ager.
