Most of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/6316-region-bordeaux\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teaux de Bordeaux<\/strong><\/a> have had abundant harvests.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>The year <strong>1983<\/strong> was marked by a tropical and humid heat during the summer, which caused an over-ripening of the grapes and the development of rot. However, the very summery late autumn caught up with the end of the season and offered optimal conditions for the harvest. Tasty and fruity, the 1983 Bordeaux red wines are powerful, remarkably long and balanced.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>M\u00e9doc wines, in the Margaux appellation, are even today considered better than the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/306-1982-vintage-wine\"><strong>1982 vintage<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 1983 Sauternes are extraordinarily long, unctuous and balanced.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>We observe great successes in all the appellations. However, the wines of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/13777-appellation-pauillac\"><strong>Pauillac<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/13778-appellation-pomerol\"><strong>Pomerol<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/13750-appellation-saint-emilion\"><strong>Saint-Emilion<\/strong><\/a> are to be preferred. We also recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/lafite-rothschild\/1982-lafite-rothschild-1983.html\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Lafite Rothschild 1983<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.fr\/leoville-poyferre\/310-leoville-poyferre-1983.html#\/30-condition-bonne\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau L\u00e9oville Poyffer\u00e9 1983<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/chateau-margaux\/154-margaux-1983.html#\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Margaux 1983<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/cos-d-estournel\/2800-cos-d-estournel-1983.html#\/30-condition-good\"><strong>Ch\u00e2teau Cos d&#8217;Estournel 1983<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1983 Burgundy wines<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/307-vin-1983\"><strong>1983 vintage<\/strong><\/a> was at first glance a somewhat mixed vintage. The wine region experienced an early spring from changeable weather conditions. Hail and bad weather arrived during the summer. Finally, the rains of September caused rot in the vineyards. However, a very strict sorting of the grapes during the harvest made it possible to solve the problem and to keep only the quality berries.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Burgundy red wines have been able to balance themselves over time. After a few years of aging, they have revealed their full potential. The 1983 Burgundy wines have structure and excellent length in the mouth.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding the white wines of Burgundy, the quality is very satisfactory. Opulent and fat are the characteristics of these wines. They can be drunk now or kept for several years in the cellar.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1983 Rh\u00f4ne wines<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/307-vin-1983\"><strong> 1983 vintage<\/strong><\/a> is unquestionably the best vintage of the 80s in the northern Rh\u00f4ne Valley. In the northern Rh\u00f4ne, the summer was hot and dry with good weather conditions during the harvest, which made it possible to harvest ripe grapes.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p>The best red wines from the Rh\u00f4ne region in 1983 were in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/13754-appellation-hermitage-rouge\"><strong>Hermitage<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/13768-appellation-cote-rotie\"><strong>C\u00f4te-R\u00f4tie<\/strong><\/a> appellations. These wines offer opulent fruit and a powerful tannic structure. Characteristics that allow the wine to be kept for a long time in the cellar. For a tasting we recommend the excellent<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodivin.co.uk\/guigal\/8230-guigal-la-mouline-1983.html\">Guigal La Mouline 1983<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding the white wines of 1983, the wines of Hermitage are fresh and elegant. In the Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the wines are generally of good quality, despite the heavy rains that fell during the harvest.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our opinion about 1983 vintage in Champagne<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Often overshadowed by the success of the 1982 vintage, the 1983 Champagnes are very good. The year 1983 was marked by a particularly cold winter and a wet spring, which delayed flowering. The wine does not deliver at the opening. It takes time but it will gradually express itself during the tasting. Black fruit, mushroom, very thick. The palate is rich and long. The elegant, complex perfume is followed by equally compelling, medium-bodied, expansive, savory flavors.
