Pauillac is one of the eight appellations of origin of the M\u00e9doc. Located on the left bank of the Gironde<\/strong>, the appellation has more than 1,204 hectares<\/strong> of vines and includes on its own three of the five first classified growths of 1855<\/strong>: Mouton Rothschild<\/strong>, Lafite Rothschild<\/strong> and Latour<\/strong>. A characteristic that speaks volumes about the quality of the appellation, especially since like the Saint Julien appellation, Pauillac<\/a> has nearly 80% of the vineyards of grands crus class\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pauillac<\/strong><\/a> has a unique terroir, soils sculpted by the waters of the Garonne. The soils are generally made up of gravel, large pebbles that allow the soil to drain. The gravel also keeps the soil cool during the day and restores the heat to the vines at night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ch\u00e2teaux that produce their wine in the Pauillac<\/a> appellation cultivate several grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon<\/strong> is the majority, supplemented by Merlot<\/strong>, Cabernet Franc<\/strong> and Petit Verdot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These berries mark the wines with aromas of blackcurrant, morello cherries, often associated with vanilla and woodiness inherited from aging in barrels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Pauillac is undoubtedly the star appellation of the M\u00e9doc.
