millésime 2015

The 2015 vintage is generally considered an exceptional year in France, particularly for red wines. Overall, the climatic conditions were very favorable, with a mild and wet winter followed by a hot and dry summer, and timely rainfall in mid-August that allowed for optimal ripening without stressing the vines.

The 2015 Bordeaux wines

2015 is a very high-quality vintage in Bordeaux. Weather conditions were optimal, with perfect flowering, fruit set, and ripening. Red wines stand out for their beautiful structure and density. They are harmonious, delightful, and brimming with ripe fruit aromas. With their round, fruity attack and remarkably fine tannins, they offer excellent aging potential. Dry white wines offer a perfect balance between freshness and fruitiness. Sauternes are also exceptional, with concentrated aromas and richness. Noble rot developed very well.

Among the best Bordeaux wines of 2015, leading the ranking are the great Château Margaux 2015, Pétrus 2015, Haut Brion 2015, Cheval Blanc 2015, and also Château Lafite Rothschild 2015, which stands out for its great class and enormous aging potential.

The Burgundy region in 2015

The 2015 vintage in Burgundy is an outstanding year offering superb aging potential. The exceptionally beautiful summer fostered ideal ripening. Red wines are the great success: intensely colored, generous, and balanced, they are brimming with ripe fruit aromas. They can be enjoyed young or age magnificently. White wines are often ready to drink more quickly. Often cited as the best Burgundy wine of 2015, Domaine de la Romanée Conti’s Romanée Conti 2015 offers incomparable elegance and depth.

The Rhone Valley: A memorable year

The 2015 vintage was a resounding success for the Rhône Valley too! In the Northern Rhône, it’s an exceptional vintage, almost “unprecedented” for many. Thanks to a scorching summer followed by much-needed rain and glorious sunshine, the Syrahs are of remarkable quality. The Southern Rhône isn’t far behind, offering an equally remarkable, though slightly more heterogeneous, vintage. The great Syrahs from Châteauneuf-du-Pape are simply incredible, and overall, the red wines are very balanced. Jean-Louis Chave’s Hermitage 2015 and Chapoutier’s Le Méal 2015 are perfect illustrations of the superb achievements in both red and white wines that year.

The champagnes of the year 2015

The 2015 vintage in Champagne is a continental vintage, marked by a very hot summer and a mild, wet winter. The harvest was remarkable, with ripe and concentrated grapes. The vintage is considered exceptional, particularly for Pinot Noir. Also, the 2015 vintage Champagnes are often described as fruity and full-bodied, while maintaining a beautiful freshness on the palate.

In summary, 2015 is a vintage offering a wide variety of quality wines, suitable for immediate consumption or for cellaring. Red wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy, red and white wines from the Rhône, and sweet wines from Sauternes deserve special mention.
