Medium-deep, a soft, lovely colour with mature ril; an immediacy of bouquet, ripe, rich, leaping out of the glass; crisp, refreshing fruit, still sweet though finishing dry.

This wine is black, compact. A perfume of black currant, blackberry, richness. The mouth is full, ample, a bit strict. It's a well-made wine, solid, that one can drink now but also can wait several years in the cellar.

The 1990 d'Armailhac is dark rubypurple, with an expressive nose of smoked nuts, cassis, smoke, and chocolate, this velvety textured, round, agreeable wine lacks structure and length on the palate.
