The weather conditions were a real roller coaster: rainy March followed by hot or very hot months, rainy and cool August, hot and rainy September ... The end of September and the beginning of October were very sunny and saved the harvest. Finally, those who have waited the most and selected their grains have done the best wine. In Bordeaux, the Pomerol and Saint Emilion are silky, balanced, resulting from a merlot that reaches maturity more quickly. On the Medoc side the wines are at the time closed and austere but promised an excellent guard. Saint Julien are promising, Pauillac have a very beautiful complexity and the Pessac Léognan have beautiful finesse. In Burgundy and Champagne, bad weather creates big differences. Quality will be at the price of a rigorous selection of grains by the hand of man but it results in very beautiful wines. In the Rhone valley, the vintage is certainly classic but qualitative.
For Bordeaux, we favor the first classified growths of Medoc (Mouton Rothschild 2006, Latour 2006, Margaux 2006, Lafite Rothschild 2006, Haut Brion 2006). Other successes include Montrose, Lynch Bages, Angelus, Ausone, Cheval Blanc, Vieux Château Certan. In Burgundy, the 2006 Montrachet of the Domaine des Comtes Lafon or a Chambertin Clos de Beze from Armand Rousseau. In the Rhône, the Côte Rotie from Guigal or Jasmin, Hermitage from Chapoutier or very beautiful Châteauneuf du Pape.
