Our opinion on the 1954 vintage : a mediocre vintage in Bordeaux, but satisfactory in Burgundy. In Bordeaux, 1954 was a difficult year. The icy summer followed by a rainy August had a strong impact on the harvest. As a result, most of the wines were diluted and not very rich. On the other hand, in Burgundy, the 1954 vintage was of fairly good quality, both in terms of quality and quantity. Good weather conditions throughout the year and sunshine during the harvest allowed the production of great wines. The red wines are fragrant and frank in taste.

In the Rhône Valley, the harvest was remarkable in the northern part and less successful in the southern part. The 1954 vintage is an irregular one in the Rhone Valley, with some remarkable wines and others disappointing.
