Our opinion on the 2014 vintage: a miraculous vintage of good quality

All regions experienced a cold and wet summer. Fortunately, the producers took advantage of a beautiful sunny late autumn. The Bordeaux vineyards harvested late, which allowed perfect maturity of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sauternes are very good, great wines, fresh and balanced.

In Burgundy, we are talking about a good vintage. After a cold summer marked by bad weather, the vineyards experienced a spectacular Indian summer from late August to early November. Thus, it is better to rigorously choose your bottle to avoid any surprises due to these climatic hazards.

The 2014 vintage is better in northern Rhône than in southern Rhône. It offers fruity, fine and rather light wines.

Our advice for buying a 2014 wine

The red wines of Bordeaux are of very good quality. For this vintage, we will favor the Grands Crus Classés of Pauillac, Saint Julien and Saint Estèphe.

The Crus de Bourgogne, especially the wines of the Côte de Nuits are wonderful. However, the white wines of Burgundy are clearly superior, which will delight wine lovers.

In the Rhône Valley, the Côte Rôtie, Hermitage and Cornas appellations offer great wines.
