Information on the vintage 1982 red Bordeaux: 5/5 A milestone. It was the first really important and well-timed vin de garde since 1970. The big guns still have fire power and length of trajectory.

A Survivor. Nearly four decades old and showing classic Old School claret character. Brick red with medium depth of color. Nose not complex but pretty with understated fruit and hints of stone. Yes, it is old but really not tired. On the palate not much fruit, rather the emphasis is on a mouth-watering acidity: Old School. Reminds me alot of an old Rioja yet without that orange peel thing they get. So, classic old Bordeaux character reflecting a high-production (and therefore somewhat lighter-bodied) vintage. Remarkable for it's longevity.
