Located in the town of Saint-Emilion, at the edge of the Pomerol appellation, the 37 hectares of Cheval Blanc in a single holding, combines a high quality terroir and original grape varieties, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Cabernet Franc is the principal grape variety at the estate. It brings the aromatic complexity, elegance, finesse and freshness at the end. This unique combination gives the wine a unique personality.

Château Cheval Blanc produces a wine with a capacity to be excellent at any age. It is actually one of the most consistent wines in the world. This subtle blend, that compliments itself perfectly, gives Chateau Cheval Blanc its special  touch, made from both power and elegance. The wines of Cheval Blanc are sometimes called absolute art. Balance is the key to a production based on respect for local values. Thus, the constant search for perfect equilibrium allows the estate to bring to the cellar a harvest of optimal quality in terms of the health and maturity of the grapes. The vineyard is in the tradition of great Bordeaux wines: A strict control of yields, 35-40 hectoliters per hectare, a wine made from each plot of vines selected for their quality, gives an optimal expression of the terroir of Cheval Blanc.

Powerful, not aggressive, round, silky, always stylish and elegant in its matrix of Cabernet Franc which surrounds the Merlot, the wine of Cheval Blanc is similar to Pomerol, without completely resembling a Saint-Emilion.  With freshness and tannins like cashmere, it ages beautifully expressing the effect of the terroir which makes it more complex and subtle.
